Mitchell Yam has been a member of the DC Breeze organization for multiple seasons and is the designer of our AAPI Heritage Jersey. Yam set out to create a design that honors Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) in Washington, DC and the city's rich AAPI culture. The characters on the front spell "Washington" phonetically in traditional characters.
$5 from every AAPI Heritage Jersey purchase will be donated to the 1882 Foundation, which is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that seeks to broaden public awareness of the history and continuing significance of the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882. It does this through projects and activities associated with raising awareness about issues in the greater DC AAPI community.
